Nordwall Instrument
-instruments made by Mats Nordwall
Mats Nordwall has focused on building steel-string guitars as well as folk instruments such as mandolins, mandolins and citterns.
Inspired by Irish and Swedish folk music, he tries to build his instruments so that they are particularly well suited to this type of music. The instruments should be easy to drive and clear, but still with a clear core in the tone, and maintain the highest level in both appearance and playing technique. All to fulfill the high demands that the individual musician has on his instruments.
Mats Nordwall received both a journeyman's certificate and a bachelor's degree in guitar building in 2006 after 3 years of training at Carl Malmstensskolan in Stockholm. As of the summer of 2013, he can also proudly call himself a master in the guitar building profession.
After completing his education, he worked full-time repairing and building instruments. In the summer of 2012, his new fine instrument-building workshop was completed on the beautiful island of Ingmarsö in the Stockholm archipelago, and there he builds all his own instruments.
With 20 years in the business, approximately 10,000 repairs performed and over 200 built instruments, Mats Nordwall is one of Sweden's most established guitarmakers.
